Learn How to Blow Dry Your Hair to Achieve Volume

The Secrets:

1. Blowdrying hair for volume is all about getting underneath each section of hair as you dry it and lifting it up and away from the head. If you want more volume from your hair, never flatten it by drawing the hair brush over the surface of the hair rather insert the brush into the underside of each section and direct the airflow from the hair dryer from above whilst continuously lifting it up and away. As you finish drying each section of your hair in the way described above, it will sit out from the head in a big loop.

2. Apply a small amount of light hold hair spray to each section as you finish it and then allow it to fully cool in this lifted looped shape before you hair brush it gently into shape as this will retain the height and volume.

3. Also try to not over brush the roots of the hair to prevent flattening them.

4. If your hair tends to collapse once you have finished blowdrying you could try using a few hot rollers in the top section of your hair to achieve longer lasting support for your hair style.

5. Curls and waves are by nature more volumous than straight hair and will make fine hair look thicker so think about incorporating them into your hairstyle to add volume for that bigger hair look.

Learn how to smooth your frizzy hair!
thanks to VS Sassoon Hair Styling Wizard

The Secrets:

1. When blow-drying, always use your concentrator nozzle to direct the airflow along the length of your hair, in so smoothing the cuticle or surface as you dry.
2. Always use a straightening iron when finishing your straight blow-dried hair style as this will flatten and smooth the cuticle or outer surface of your frizz prone hair which will help seal out the humidity and moisture that makes it frizzy in the first place.
3. If your hair is frizzy, prone to static or flyaways, then look to hair styling tools that use ionic conditioning technology.
4. Nano silver tourmaline ceramic™ technology unites micro particles of nano silver, tourmaline and ceramic and when combined with heat, seals the hair cuticle to leave hair with reduced frizz and enhanced shine.
5. A light hold hair spray is one of the best humidity protectors to prevent frizz as it coats your hair sealing out the frizz-causing moisture. It works especially well if used on the section of hair you are about to curl or straighten.

MAKE-UP

If you or your mum are doing your make-up for the big night, don't go overboard. Do a few rehearsals before the big night so you can see what works and what doesn't.

Try not to go emphasise everything...usually less is more. It always looks great to emphasis one feature, like your eyes and play down your lips with a more neutral gloss or vice versa.

EYES. It's a trend right now to line the full rim of your eyes with black eyeliner, but this will only make your eyes look smaller (especially in the photo's). Try going lightly with the eyeliner in towards your nose and heavier towards the outer edges of your eyes. This will make your eyes look huge and give that 'cat eye' look that looks great on amost everyone.  Get a little CHEEKIE! But what every you do, don't O.D. on the blush!

Just a touch in the apple with some shimmer does the job.
